Who Can I Connect You To?

After a lovely August recess, brain-break, and family time, I am BACK AT THE CONNECTIONS!

Over the last 30 days, I continued to help people through the connections that I have helped me and my business.  It’s a cliche’, but “Pay It Forward” works.

I connected:

  • A financial advisor to a tax expert to help a retiree who gotten into an annuity scam.  They assessed the fraud, corrected it, and saved the retiree about $76,000!

  • An Anesthesiologist needed an asset manager for various investments, properties, and private equity

  • My haircut guy wanted to install a new sink at his hair cut shop, introduced him to a local plumber

  • A business client had a pipe burst in an upstairs bathroom, eventually flooding the finished garage below.  My restoration client sorted out the insurance claim, and the sub-contractors needed for the home repair

  • Found girlsrugbyinc.org a set of sponsors for our new fall season!

  • Small business owner was tired of doing payroll on qbo, so I connected her to a payroll company that specializes in companies of LESS THAN 10 employees

  • Forced two bankers to meet for beers…. Okay, they did needed forcing…

  • An interesting AI startup, that helps Customer Services Reps with the language and communications, to a massive disability insurance company’s 800# division

  • Lastly, and the one that warms the heart, a fire prevention company wanted to get to the Bahamas to help post-Dorian, and I have a friend who works at Greenpeace who helped the fire prevention company access to the area

For the next 120 days, through the end of the year, I’ll update you all on the connections made.  Need an intro? Want a service? Or, want to market your services? Reach out!

Who Can I Connect You To?

WCICYT: Two GREAT Connectors!

HELLO Connectors!  This week in "Who Can I Connect You To?"

This week, I'll do my usual list of connections, and introduce to you 2 GREAT connectors who helped me here in Mill Valley.

My Realtor Beth Brody (beth.brody@compass.com onlyinmillvalley.com)

unnamed.png

With her Lauren Bacall voice, Beth is a master networking on top her residential real estate expertise.  After we settled in, she immediately connected us to a cleaning service, a landscaper, a donation center (you discover a ton of things you do NOT need in a move!), and an introduction to the developer who renovated our home!   Beth continues to refer business to me, and I to her!  Can't wait to buy that income property....

I recently joined the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce, millvalley.org  I met Jim Welte (jim@millvalley.org 415-388-9700) who not only featured ME in a Chamber newsletter but then went on to connect me to a local bni.com group, a printing company, and is helping me introduce HS kids to the trades!

If you're ever in Mill Valley, looks us up!

And, lastly, my connections made:

  • A business owner received a collections letter from the EDD.  I referred him to Bob Crane of fixyourtaxproblem.com

  • Two rugby teammates, from different teams I plated with, were at the same match.  I connected them via social media, and now they're on the same club!

  • A realtor that works with Beth needed a homeowner's quote in a tough area, so I sent his client to my go to, Bob Lanier at jsquareinsurance.com

Thanks for reading, and connect well my friends!

Kevin

Welcome back, Connectors!

REVEALED: Insurance brokers and insurers with the most complaints

REVEALED: Insurance brokers and insurers with the most complaints

This is coming to America.  if you use your insurance company's app, then they ARE TRACKING YOUR DRIVING BEHAVIOR.  Currently, insurance companies can raise rates or drop you, after an accident or a traffic ticket.  Soon, they'll raise rates, or drop you, solely based on YOUR DRIVING BEHAVIOR.

Good news:  Big Brother Insurance Company will probably give the safer drivers a discount.... food for thought, but do not eat it while driving....

California Business Auto Rate Change

California Business Auto Rate Change

You have until July 26th to hold onto a decent rate for your business auto insurance.  I'm seeing 10-25% rate increases!  [Why?  Lyft, Uber, Instacart, Amazon, etc etc have INCREASED the number of vehicles on the roads.  With the "you can save XX% commercials, the insurance companies under priced and didn't anticipate the massive increase in traffic accidents.  Yes, that means you pay more....]

If you have a fleet, and think this is TOTALLY UNFAIR, contact us.  We have an driver analytics tools that could help you control you commercial auto insurance rates.

Monday Morning Blues - Client finds office Broken Into

Walking into your office Monday morning, to a broken door, broken glass, tables over-turned, and laptops and computers stolen, SUCKS.

Getting a $17,000 check for the lost equipment, with office repairs approved and a contractor ready to go, in under a week, STANDARD.  [When the claim is done right...]

The Founder rolled in about 615am. The outer building door seemed fine, it had a keycard/keypad system. But the office door on the third floor was kicked in, being only a simple glass door.  Her panic hit quick, as she had a clear view of their open workspace.  Tables flipped, chairs piled in to a corner, as if to make it easier to dash off with kit.  Anything electronic was stolen, 2 PCs, massive monitors, the printer, laptops left in cubby holes, and even the espresso machine.  Hallway video showed a that the thief followed another building tenant entering on Saturday, thus bypassing the code/keycard need.

I was called that morning, and got the pics and list put together for the claim that same morning.  The carrier turned the claim around fast, as we had all the documentation needed.

Yes, they took the espresso machine!

Most people believe business insurance is for lawsuits, employee injuries, or car wrecks.  Those things happen, yes.  What most business owners are not paying for, is the small coverages like the one above (BPP, or business personal property) that can help alleviate a bad situation.

What would happen if you came in this Monday morning, and saw the same thing?

My guess:  You're paying for coverages you don't need, and NOT paying for coverages you absolutely must have.  A cup of coffee, and we can determine that fast.

See you in the Rucks,

Kevin

WHO CAN I CONNECT YOU WITH?

Last week, I connected

  • A retail business with a payments processor

  • Venture Capital Firm with a consultant to evaluate pitches

  • A Business Owner to a Bank Loan Officer

  • An Uber/Lyft Driver to a car dealer

What my clients are looking for this week:

Can you help with the above?

Or, Who Can I Connect You To?

Missing you all in the rucks,

Kevin

Environmental Liability Coverage for Ongoing & Completed Operations

Environmental Liability Coverage for Ongoing & Completed Operations

If you think your contractors don’t need protection against environmental exposures, here’s a claim scenario that will make you think again!

Two years after the completion of a new high school, it was determined that the window system used during construction was allowing water to infiltrate the building. Mold was discovered. Faulty installation was part of the issue. The cost to remediate the problem was shared by the general contractor and the manufacturer of the windows. The sub-contractor who installed the windows was no longer in business. The general contractor did not have pollution coverage for mold and paid over $900,000.
